Post 3: Planning the Trip continued

The Peugeot 304 is small enough to make it through narrow streets, but with a trunk big enough to hide all of our luggage. To make it easier, I got a set of three matching Travel Expedition bags from Eddie Bauer in Rachel's favorite shade of green: a large to fit her wardrobe, a medium to fit mine, and a small I will use as a carry on for the photographic and computer equipment.

The great thing about these bags is that they have a zippered hard bottom shell compartment that protects fragile stuff.  My medium one is the perfect size to pack the 22" monitor I am taking along with my new 11"' MacBook Air:

The special design and support rods give them enough rigidity so that, unlike other duffel bags, they can stand up, which is a blessing going through lines at check points:

The ball bearing wheels are large and sturdy, and there is a  pull out handle. With the 50 lbs weight limit, our old heavy hard shell solid plastic Samsonite luggage has become obsolete, and I hope these lighter weight hybrids are the answer... If they don't get ripped!
