Post 4: A new Addition to the Panoply of Equipment

I have for years made fun of and dismissed "phone pictures" as just good enough to look at on a phone. And by and large, I was right, until recently. But things have changed, and they now make phones with 16 MegaPixels cameras that are capable of taking remarkably good pictures, especially considering the minuscule lenses and sensors.
That was made particularly obvious to me a couple of days ago when I met Charles, an old friend from my Motorcycle Days and a self proclaimed local "Urban Explorer", and he showed me his pictures on the large screen of his Galaxy Note 2. We went on a little "exploration" together, and he shot a bunch of pictures of my new Mini in various gritty graffiti settings. He emailed me a few shots, and I could look at them on my 30" Apple Cinema Display. They were slightly overexposed, as all pictures taken by automatic consumer cameras, but a few minutes in Photoshop made them look damn good, better than I ever expected of a phone... See for yourself:

So I decided it was finally time to replace my old flip phone that only took one picture (it was so bad I never shot another one) in all the years it spent turned off in my pocket.
I wanted an unlocked GMS phone that I could take with me to Sicily, France, and all future trips, as well as use here with no monthly plan, and I wanted it now. That basically left only one choice, the SONY XPERIA T2 ULTRA that was on sale at Best Buy for $249.
It has a huge 6" screen, and is paper thin,  Well, almost...

And it takes pretty good 13 Megapixels pictures. I will still use my G1X for "serious work", but I bet I will use the XPERIA a lot from now on. It has so many Apps it will take me weeks to figure them out. The ones I am interested in are the HDR Apps, and the stitching panorama Apps, which work quite well in camera.
