Post 14: Good Friday in Enna(second try)

I hope I have the right day this time! I asked our host when he came by to make the WIFI work if it was OK to take a drive in the morning, and he said as long as we are back before 2, it should be possible to get up here and park the car. After 3, it will get harder and harder, and after 5, just forget it, everything is going to be blocked ...
The sun is out this morning, and should be for the day, so I suppose we will take a half day side trip to Caltanisetta about 30 miles away, and be back early to grab a parking space .

Caltanisetta is an old town with three nice churches which we will never see. On the way down from Enna, Rachel said: "Could we go back to where I saw the lava jewelry?", meaning  The Villa de Casale in Piazza Armerina...
So that's where we went instead, and we came back with the jewelry around 12:30, just in time to get the last parking space available down along the Belvedere, and have a quiet lunch in our room...
Then we took a nap, and I am now making us some expresso to wake up for the Festivities. More about that later tonight.
We laid in bed reading most of the afternoon waiting for the procession to arrive. Finally, we heard some music around 5:30, and went down to investigate. There was actually not that much going on, and we walked leisurely up to the cathedral, sit on the step for a while, and went back down the street some to an area where there was a plain wall background to wit.
They started tricking in around 6:30, groups of penitents pretty far apart, carrying crosses, staffs, banners, and various implements of the passion of Christ:

Finally, we though it was over and were disappointed that there was no float at all, but after a while, a marching band showed up, and with it the float of the Dolorosa and its 100 or so bearers:

We kept waiting for the Cristo in a glass coffin, but it never showed up... Bummer!
