On Easter Morning, we woke up early, and decided to drive to San Biaggio just in case they started early. They didn't, nothing happens early in Sicily it seems. But we enjoyed the decor before the crowds showed up. The men were still working putting things together, I guess they must have pent the night. The bread Chandeliers with electric light bulbs were on on the Virgin side, the Jesus Team was a little behind...:
But the cane street looked fabulous:

The Orpheon was playing funeral music while they were getting things ready in the Church. The Procession left the church at 10:30, statues all wrapped up in black, and went around and around with various stops, and finally came back in front of the Church, where Mary and Jesus were to meet.
Just before they met, the black cloaks were pulled up with a rope and pulley, and the uncovered statues stated dancing, as the music turned from somber to festive. They met in front of the Church steps, and performed a whole ceremonial of dancing back and forth and kissing each other, the bearers leaning the statues forward to the point I thought they were going to tumble down... I will post a video later.
