Post 15: Trying to Catch up After 3 days disconnected...

We left Enna on Saturday morning early to go to San Biaggio and our AirBnB in nearby Cianciana. We are getting used to bad roads, and do not miss a beat anymore when it disappears under the car...

We stopped in San Biaggio to check out what was happening with the annual Easter Festival. The men were still hard at work putting things together, but the arches of cane were up, an they were in the process of hanging the bread and putting finishing touches. It is quite amazing the structures that they build each year out of cane:

The huge slabs of bread they hang on the structures for decoration were still laying on the ground or leaning against the walls:

Other decorative panels were made of grains of wheat, and multicolored beans:

Some of the specially baked loaves of bread were already up:

We then drove on to Cianciana, on a road that looked like it had not been maintained in years, with bushes growing in the road cracks and grass covering the land slides...
We made it there and called our host's agent, the owners being currently teaching in China.
The place was great, very very rustic and basic, but with a ton of charm, and with a god bed and a very hot shower with plenty of water, which were a lot better than the BnB in Enna's.
We had bought some groceries, and Rachel cooked for us for the first time on the tiny electric plates. We had a delicious dinner of salad with a  balsamic sauce, pasta with mussels and pesto, and crêpes.
